Bottom Discharge Centrifuge
The Bottom Discharge Centrifuge, also widely known as the Vertical Peeler Centrifuge in Europe, is a fully automatic solid-liquid separation system designed for efficient handling of medium to large batch processes. Unlike Top Discharge models, where manual cake removal is necessary, this machine ensures automatic cake discharge through an integrated scraper mechanism, making it highly suitable for applications demanding consistency, safety, and reduced operator intervention.
Engineered for industries such as pharmaceuticals, fine chemicals, agrochemicals, food processing, and specialty materials, the Bottom Discharge Centrifuge combines high separation efficiency with gentle cake handling, making it ideal for crystalline and fragile products.

Working Principle
In this centrifuge, the slurry is fed into the rotating basket lined with a filter bag. The centrifugal force drives the liquid phase through the filter medium and basket perforations, leaving the solid cake deposited on the basket wall. Once the filtration and drying stages are complete, the discharge cycle begins:
- The basket is specially designed with radial ribs instead of a flat bottom, allowing easy cake discharge.
- A scraper knife (mounted on the scraping arm) is hydraulically engaged at a pre-set low basket speed. The knife gently peels off the cake layer from the filter bag surface.
- The cake falls through the inertia plate (also ribbed with large openings) into the discharge hopper below.
- A small layer of cake, known as the residual heel, remains inside the basket.
- This is removed by a blow-off system using compressed air or nitrogen delivered through strategically positioned nozzles.
- The scraper is designed with mechanical travel limits to prevent contact with the basket shell, ensuring long equipment life and safe operation.
